Derelict - Crashed Ship Environment

Part of my final project at Vancouver Film School. Derelict follows an exploration ship, the Achimi, and its crew, as they find the remnants of an alien civilization, and awaken the creature that destroyed them.

The alien ship, nicknamed The Lance, is found crashed on a far away moon covered in deserts. Inside, the crew discovers an ancient creature with primal hunger.

I wanted to design this as a multiplane animation, so I took the layers and animated a camera move and a blur shift inside of After Effects.
